Coordinator of INCT Hormona Awarded Title of “Maestra” by ALEG

The general coordinator of the National Institute of Science and Technology in Hormones and Women’s Health (INCT Hormona), Professor Poli Mara Spritzer, was granted the title Maestra Latinoamericana en Endocrinologia Ginecologica by the Latin American Association of Gynecological Endocrinology (ALEG). The honor was awarded at a ceremony held in Argentina on November 22nd.
Poli Mara is Full Professor of Physiology and Endocrinology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and coordinator of the Gynecological Endocrinology Unit of the Department of Endocrinology at Hospital de Clínicas of Porto Alegre (HCPA). A lead investigator of several clinical and translational research projects, with an emphasis on hyperandrogenism, polycystic ovary syndrome, menopause, and osteoporosis, in addition to endocrine and psychoneuroendocrine approaches to transgender identity, Professor Spritzer was recognized for her work in the consolidation of female endocrinology in Brazil.
In a letter signed by ALEG, the directors of the organization note that the Professor was chosen for the award taking into account her “untiring work for the well-being of women and development of gynecological endocrinology.” The ALEG directors also extolled the Professor’s “scientific, professional, and personal capacities, recognizing her probity, performance, and rectitude”.
