Endofeminina 2022

Posted April 12, 2022

Promoted by the Gynecological Endocrinology Unit and Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (Brazil), the 18th edition of the Women’s Endocrinology Meeting (Endofeminina) took place on March 25 and 26, 2022. The event was chaired by the coordinator-general of INCT Hormona, Dr. Poli Mara Spritzer. For the second time, it was 100% virtual because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In all, 302 people registered for the event, including Brazilians and health professionals from other countries.

In the Opening Session, Dr. Spritzer thanked the participation of everyone who made the meeting possible, especially because this year marks its come of age. “It’s been 18 years almost uninterruptedly, as there was no event in 2020, and we’ve always had very good results and important sources of support for Endofeminina, including INCT Hormona,” she said. The doctor also thanked the contribution of all the speakers and moderators who “have guaranteed a fraternal atmosphere during the debates on topics related to hormones and women’s health” in all meeting editions.

In total, more than 20 hours of scientific sessions were conducted, addressing topics such as menopause and hormone therapy, contraception, infertility management, impact of lifestyle changes, transgender condition, osteoporosis, and burden of COVID-19, among others. The lectures were prerecorded and then screened at the scheduled time, followed by livestreamed Q&A sessions that allowed participants to resolve their doubts in real time.

A highlight of Endofeminina 2022 was the international nature of the event, which included two activities held in partnership with important international societies. One of them was the session “Update and perspectives in PCOS,” led by the Androgen Excess and  PCOS Society (AE-PCOS). Then, the Asociación Latinoamericana de Endocrinologia Ginecológica (ALEG) led the symposium “Impacto del covid-19 sobre la salud feminina.”

The event ended with the traditional awarding of the three best papers presented at the meeting.

All presentations were recorded and are available until the end of May to be watched by registrants at endofeminina.com.br. Those who missed the registration deadline and could not follow the program in real time can register to have access to all the recorded material. Schedule and registration details are available on the platform.
