Posted February 15, 2022

The 18th edition of the Women’s Endocrinology Meeting (Encontro de Endocrinologia Feminina – Endofeminina) is almost ready. The event is supported by INCT Hormona and the Gynecological Endocrinology Unit of the Endocrinology Service at Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre and will be held on March 25 and 26, 2022.

For the second consecutive year, the meeting will be entirely virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic – classes will be recorded, but Q&A sessions will be broadcast live, providing an opportunity for real-time interaction between participants and speakers. Registration is now open.

Scientific schedule

The scientific schedule is finished, and a major novelty is the partnership with important international societies. The “Update and perspectives in PCOS” session, for example, will be held in partnership with the Androgen Excess and PCOS Society – AEPCOS. One of the highlights is the lecture “Challenges on evaluation and diagnosis of PCOS in adolescent girls,” which will be delivered by an expert on the field, Dr. Selma Witchel. Dr. Eszter Vanky, who leads the PregMet study, will present “Metformin in pregnancy in women with PCOS: impact on maternal and long-term offspring outcomes.” Finally, Dr. Anuja Dokras will address the topic “Cardiovascular risk in women with PCOS.”

The Asociación Latinoamericana de Endocrinologia Ginecológica (ALEG) will explore important topics at the symposium “Impacto del covid-19 sobre la salud feminine,” with the following lectures: “En adolescentes con contracepción” – Milagros Sánchez, “Ciclicidade menstrual e ovulação” – Lucas Bandeira Marchesan; “En la mujer embarazada” – Peter Chedraui; and “En la mujer climactérica” – Raúl Dominguez.

Also, members of the INCT Hormona Coordinating Group and Management Committee are confirmed speakers, including the coordinator-general, Dr. Poli Mara Spritzer; the deputy coordinator and coordinator at INCT Hormona Center at University of São Paulo/Campus of Ribeirão Preto (USP/RP), Dr. Rui Ferriani; the coordinator at INCT Hormona Center at Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Dr. Fernando Marcos dos Reis; and the coordinator at INCT Hormona Center at State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Dr. Luis Bahamondes.
